Video is a really important component of your content marketing strategy
Just think about these powerful statistics:
- YouTube has over one billion active users
- How-to videos drive sales: 1-in-3 viewers will buy a product after seeing a video tutorial
- In the next four years (2019), 80% of global internet activity will be video
- Video is awesome for reaching Mom’s! 60% of all Mom’s trust YouTube for parenting tips.
- The average mobile platform YouTube watch-time is now over 40 minutes.
Producing your video content doesn’t need to be a big-budget effort either. You just have to have a story that people want to watch! Remember, to capture an audience, you need to entertain, too. Find a problem you know your prospects are thinking about and find an entertaining and informative way to help them solve that problem. Limit the amount of feature-benefit info you include in your story (this is about your prospect, not you!). Think content, not necessarily glitz. You don’t have to be Steven Spielberg to reach your customers. Just demonstrate your authentic ability to solve their problems.
Look how simple this can be. Remember the ‘tiny hamster’ videos that went viral a few years back? A bunch of them got made. Lots of people saw them.
And look at how simple these videos actually are! Here’s an example “Tiny Hamster Eating Tiny Burritos”.
No fancy studio – just a well-lit kitchen. Maybe $1.00 in ingredient costs and $5.00 for props and it could have been produced with a smart phone. What kind of a customer problem-solving story can you tell with a little bit of creativity, your terrific sense of humor and your expert position in solving customer problems? Think about it!
